Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have stock / what is your lead time?

We make all of our products to order.  The current lead time is 8-10 weeks for lighting and 10-12 weeks for furniture, worldwide.  We wire our lights according to the location requirements.

Do you have a showroom or stockists?

Snelling is online only.  We do keep a library of images that can be quite useful.  Please get in touch and we can provide as much information as possible for you to make an informed decision before purchasing.

What voltage are your lights?

We wire our lights according to the destination location requirements.  You will either need a 120V or 240V fixture. For a full list of voltages by country, visit www.worldstandards.eu/electricity/plug-voltage-by-country.

Do you ship internationally?

All Snelling products are dispatched from our Auckland workshop.  We regularly ship our items worldwide, and wire with components compatible for your country.  Our preferred shipping companies are FedEx and DHL.

Are your lights UL listed?

Our lights are produced in accordance with AS/NZS 3820:2020 essential safety requirements for electrical equipment, and made with UL listed components.

Do you offer a Trade Discount?

We offer trade, developer and volume discounts on all of our products to qualified buyers in the design and architecture industry. To register, please enter relevant information through our website here and a sales representative will be in touch.

How do I order your products?

Many of our items are available to purchase through our website.  You may select from the currency options:  NZD, AUD, USD or EUR.  NZ pricing includes GST.  All other pricing excludes any duty/taxes which may be applied upon entry into your country.

Our pricing varies according to the finishes.  On each product page, you’ll see the finish options under SELECTION.  As you click onto the finish options, the price changes accordingly.

Alternatively, please email info@snellingstudio with your inquiry, including your location, and we’ll get back to you straight away.

How do I determine my drop height?

We produce our pendants and chandeliers to your specifications in regard to the drop height.  We’re after the total distance from the finished ceiling (or plaster ceiling rose) to the very bottom of the fixture.

In a living or thoroughfare space, where the light is the central or main light in the space, we recommend a minimum clearance of 2100-2400mm from the floor to the bottom of the light.  Once you have the ceiling height, we can work backwards from there.

If the light is to hang over a dining table or kitchen bench, we recommend the light be approximately 1800mm from the floor to the bottom of the light.  Once you have the ceiling height, we can work backwards from there.

For low ceiling heights, we can sometimes offer a ‘low ceiling configuration.’  Please contact us for more information.

Can you do customisations?

Because we design and produce all our own products, we can be quite customisable with existing products, within certain parameters.  We also welcome custom enquiries and commissions.

How long do our LED lights last?

Lightbulbs:  The lightbulbs we supply have a 2 year warranty and a lifespan of approximately 25,000 hours.

Integrated LED strips: approximately 50,000 hours/ 10 years, depending on usage (featured in Arch, Turn and Lens Collections)

Are your lights dimmable?

All of our lighting is dimmable; some require external drivers (supplied.)  Certain table and floor lighting is not assembled with dimmer switches, but can be produced to be so.  Please contact us for more information.

How do I clean my Snelling product?

Please refer to our Product Care Guide here.

Can I place your lights in a bathroom/wet area?

Our lights are not IP Rated by default but we can produce them to be so if requested.  Additional fees apply.

Can I install a pendant/chandelier on a sloped/raked ceiling?

Any of our pendants / chandeliers can installed on a raked ceiling.  This is achieved by producing the down rod and ceiling canopy with a hook and eye configuration. The canopy is installed flush on the sloped ceiling (regardless of the pitch) and the down rod connects via the hook and eye and hangs plumb/vertically.  This must be specified at the time of ordering. Additional fees apply.

Can I supply my own fabric?

You are more than welcome to supply your own fabric.  We may ask for a sample to ensure that it’s suitable for upholstery.  It is the customer’s responsibility to supply the fabric to our NZ workshop.

Do you accept returns?

Because of the hand-made nature of our pieces, we are unable to accept returns. Please choose carefully as we do not provide refunds if you simply change your mind or make a wrong decision.

What is your warranty?

Our lights have a warranty period of three years; timber and furniture pieces are five years. More details can be found here.
